Internet will trigger the biggest political revolution that has ever occurred
Political structures are created by the necessity to take collective decision or to join collective structure. Those structures
have the purpose to improve the “natural” law by this law by a more comprehensive one. The necessity of a non-discretionary
law appears more than 3500 year ago to improve the coordination of the citizen of the nation.
The capacity to replace those laws does not depend of the will of mankind but on the competition, which exists between
all competitive laws themselves. And, the change is induced by the cost of exchanging information. In a world where everything
can be easily hidden, individual competition inherits from the competition of species is likely to bring to the high rank
of the society: psychopaths. In an anarchic primitive society in which murder is not punished, psychopaths considers other
people as a pray, they will act faster to murder their rival and reach the top of the hierarchy. As the cost of spreading
information is high and information is not reliable, the potential new of the murder will not arm them much.
In a world where murders are difficult to hide, psychopath lose their competitive advantage and so another competitive
logic impose itself.
The increase in size of nation from cities to country and from country to empire, increases the cost of information so
as the Athenian and roman republican model becomes impossible to practice.
Monarchy and Parliamentary system
The answer becomes Monarchy and the appearance of a parliament on the form of Senate or House of Lord. Those first parliaments
were usually a place for the lord and the educated who lived in the capital city. The first effect was political and so economic
centralization. The fiscal system concentrates the money flows to one location, which become the place of initiative and so
attracts ambitious individuals.
Printing machine and the biggest political revolution?
Printing machine makes it cheaper to transfer knowledge from the center to the province. The parliamentary evolves so as
to represent each province and took the current day. Every area of the country elects one deputy, which would decide for his
region in the assembly located in the capital. Then, they defend the interest of their region and report their action to their
elector.
The system has advantage and drawbacks in term of effectiveness. The drawbacks are:
- Centralization: It moves further towards centralization. . It has an extremely negative impact on the
wealth of the worker. House cost skyrocket in the capital and well-paid jobs disappear from the province. Good living standard
are usually achieve in countries where no cities has more then 1 millions citizen. 1 millions is the figure where effectiveness
is lost.
- Lack of specialization: The increase of effectiveness is related to specialization, which is the main
driver for the system to evolve and improve. As the system is built up to solve the geographical concern, the system cannot
follow the specialization logic and do not evolve. The necessity to be effective induces parallel systems like technocracy,
which do not follow the democratic logic.
When technology change so as to decrease the cost of information transfer, the competition between system of rules
change. And, printing then newspaper has been the start of a vague of revolution like Protestantism, French revolution, communist
revolution,...
Printing has also leaded to the development of paper money and title printing and so make the appearance and development
of the stock market possible. It has been a fundamental step in the induction of capitalism revolution. Capitalism can be
described as an evolution of christan charity: from "give to the poor or church" to "give to improve the future of the human
kind". So donation became investment. It has become possible by providing cheaply sufficient information about investment
opportunities and contracts, which guarantee the proof of investment.
Radio, television and the new lords
Television has changed the rule of centralization. The television specialist become the lords who interact with the politics
in a unite world. Between the media lord and the people, there is a wall called “communication or propaganda”.
As television show are well prepare, it is easier than ever to create “artificial personality”. Those personalities
have no reality and fully control by the media business. To cite the most tragic personality, we will never forget this great
actor: “Adolph Hitler”. In more stable and richer democracy, the archetype of the right politician is “Jesus
Christ” who is the vehicle to defend an over weight welfare system and a high taxation on the name of “national
solidarity”.
Internet, the coming revolution
Internet is likely to trigger an even more radical political revolution than ever. The economic world has been completely
redesigned by Internet and we see the appearance of democratic capitalism (small stock holder). Every citizen is now player
in the capitalist game. They will be soon feel that they should be also player in the political arena as well, and not force
to select represent in a very control list.
The location cost is reduced to zero so political architecture will not resists anymore. The political world will then
get the capacity to evolve and specialize on the knowledge boundary. Assembly will become multiple and specialized forum.
They will be created without limitation. The right to become a delegate will also be opened to everybody without any limitation
number. The condition will follow the rules of the professional world: competence and capacity.
